Crowns

Quite often if you a break tooth, we suggest you have a crown! You may wonder why? Well let’s start at the beginning.

Crowns are tooth shaped caps which are made to fit over your teeth. Crowns are usually made of porcelain. This mimics the natural tooth colour. In certain cases, where aesthetics are not the primary concern and superior strength is required they can be made of gold.

Crowns are considered the best method to strengthen weakened teeth.

Indications include:
– badly decayed teeth
– teeth weakened by large existing filings
-the presence of cracks
-teeth that have had root canal treatment
-to improve a smile by altering shape, improving colour or filling gaps
