Why water is so good for us!

The New Zealand Dental Association has recently launched a campaign to eliminate sugary drinks from school canteens and to make schools water only. Sugary drinks such as soft drinks and juices are loaded with sugar and full of empty calories. Excessive sugar consumption is associated with tooth decay, obesity and diabetes. Here is a reminder about the benefits of drinking water:

  • Carries nutrients and oxygen to cells
  • Removes waste and toxins
  • Prevents constipation
  • Relieves fatigue
  • Moistens our skin, tissues in the mouth, eyes and nose
  • Helps our body digest food
  • Lubricates muscles and joints
